Achham is considered as one of the districts most affected by HIV/AIDS. Many men are compelled to go to India for wage labour and believed to be contaminated by the virus in the brothels. |
Programs in Achham district are oriented towards justice and social inclusion. Uterine prolapse is a cross cutting theme. The projects are run with the following NGOs under a tripartite agreement with Helvetas's LLINK Program:
Programmes under such arrangements were running before the district was hit with insurgency since 1998. Earlier, the program was supported by external NGOs, while now it is the district-based NGOs that implement the program. |
